How GrabPrinter works

A two-sided marketplace: printer owners list their printers, people nearby use them.

If you need to print

  1. 1. Find a printer nearby — open the map, enable location, see pins around you with prices and distance.
  2. 2. Upload your PDF — drag and drop, we count the pages and detect colour automatically.
  3. 3. Get a quote — exact price before you pay, platform fee included.
  4. 4. Choose how you want it — self-collect, or book a Lalamove rider.
  5. 5. Choose when it prints — for self-collect: either immediately on approval (pick up any time after) or with an unlock code you hand to the host in person. For Lalamove: prints immediately so the rider can collect.
  6. 6. Pay — Stripe holds payment until your print is done. 24h to dispute.
  7. 7. Rate — help the marketplace stay trustworthy.

Common questions

Isn't Lalamove delivery expensive for a small print?

Yes — Lalamove's minimum in Singapore is roughly SGD $8-9 even for nearby trips. So delivery only makes sense when you'd otherwise pay a courier anyway (e.g. rushing a signed document across town, where you were already looking at $15+).

For everyday prints the value is in self-collection from a printer along your route or near home. Most jobs are cheaper than a shop print plus travel, with more locations and after-hours availability than any physical shop can offer.

How private is my document if it's printing in someone's home?

Three layers of protection:

  • The host never sees your file. They only see metadata — page count, paper size, colour/B&W, copies. The PDF is downloaded directly by the agent app and sent to the printer. It is never displayed in any host UI.
  • You control when it prints. With the "Unlock code" option, the print only starts after you hand the host a 4-digit code in person — meaning the printed pages do not exist until you are already at the printer ready to collect.
  • Location is fuzzed. Hosts choose map precision (exact / ±100m / ±500m / ±1km). Exact address is only revealed after you pay.

Honest caveat: once a page is printed, physical paper exists in the host's home until you collect it — like any courier or print shop. The unlock-code flow shrinks that window to zero.

What if the printer is in a different room? The host could see the printed pages before I arrive.

That is exactly why the unlock-code option exists. Use it and the host only starts the print after you physically hand them the code at their door — so printed pages exist for the shortest possible time before they reach you. For "Print immediately on approval", yes: pages exist in the host's home from the moment they approve until you collect. Pick the mode that matches your sensitivity.

What happened to neighbourhood print shops?

Most Singapore print shops have closed or pivoted away from document printing. GrabPrinter replaces them by turning idle home printers into a distributed network — more locations, longer hours, and typically cheaper per page because hosts are monetising a printer they already own.

Is my file virus-scanned?

Yes. Every PDF is scanned with ClamAV before it is ever sent to a host's agent. Infected files are rejected automatically and your payment is not captured.
